GLENDA COLE CLAY, Lyric Coloratura
As an instructor in the Dallas Independent School District, Glenda has taken
her knowledge, enthusiasm for music and refined tastes into the classroom. She
is most noted for her recital and oratorio concerts. Her varied talents have
landed her roles with the Dallas and Fort Worth Operas. In her solo programs,
one of her favorite compositions to sing is St. Matthew’s Passion by J.
S. Bach. She has a Bachelor’s degree in music from Bishop (now Paul Quinn
College) and a master’s degree in education from Prairie View A&M
University.
MONYA DAVIS LOGAN, Pianist
Ms. Logan studied at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, and SMU’s
Meadows School of the Arts. Monya is an accompanist for UIL, and a music teacher
of the Dallas Symphony’s Young Strings Orchestra program. She was also
an instructor at Booker T. Washington High School of the Performing and Visual
Arts in Dallas, TX. Monya is Director of Music at St. Luke Community United
Methodist Church. Monya also teaches private piano lessons, and has accompanied
noted celebrities such as Peabo Bryson and Melba Moore.
CYNTHIA DORN NAVARRETE, Actress
As an actress, Cynthia has had a role in made-for-television movies like: MC
Hammer; You Can’t Touch This (VH-1), The Con (with Rebecca DeMornay &
William H. Macy), The Secret She Carried, (with Peri Gilpin of Frazier), Wishbone
(as Principal Leonard), Without Her Consent (with Jennie Garth), For the Love
of Zachary (with Vanessa Redgrave and Valerie Bertinelli), and A Woman of Independent
Means (with Sally Field), and the Medical Examiner on the television series,
Walker, Texas Ranger. On the big screen, she played Esther in The Rookie (with
Dennis Quaid), and appears as a preliminary judge in Miss Congeniality (with
Sandra Bullock). In Independent Feature films, Cynthia had roles as an FBI Agent
in Anarchist Cookbook and Mother Harper in Screen Door Jesus. Cynthia’s
voice over work includes commercials for Jomar Department Stores, McDonalds,
The Fannie Mae Foundation, The Women’s Suffrage Museum in New York, and
Thanksgiving Square in Dallas. Cynthia also appears in training films for corporations
and government agencies. Theatre is her first love.
DOROTHY REGINA POWELL – Mezzo-Soprano
As a graduate of Bethune-Cookman College where she studied music and earned
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History/Political Science, Dorothy competed with
great success in many national & international vocal competitions. As a
touring member of the renowned B-CC Choral, Dorothy developed her musical talents,
and has continued an intensive national and international touring schedule.
Dorothy has appeared in numerous recitals and performed roles in Carmen, Samson
and Delilah, and The Magic Flute.
GALE WASHINGTON TYLER, Lyric Soprano
Writer, actress, arranger, teacher, vocalist, wife and mother, Gale Tyler’s
musical and performance experience is broad and diverse. She has performed with
symphony orchestras and opera companies across America and in Europe. Gale Tyler
holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina and Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Southern
Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She is an ordained minister and Youth
Pastor at Gathering of the Eagles Worship Center in Desoto, Texas and is in
pursuit of a Masters Degree in Ministry.
LINDA HALL SEARIGHT, Contralto
A graduate of Bishop College (Dallas, Texas) is a tenured 35 year Public School
Instructor. A Wife and Mother of 3, Ms. Searight is an outstanding performing
artist with many accomplishments to her credit. She is a musician of unusual
caliber. Her abilities in multiple musical genres make her comfortable before
audiences around the world. Ms. Searight was tutored by the late great Opera
Diva, Jennie Tourel. Highlights of Ms. Searight's career include being a featured
soloist with a variety of Symphony Orchestras and also founding & serving
as Artistic Director of the Grammy award winning recording choir
